Thousands of university students are back home after two of the country's seven public universities were closed indefinitely, following a serious paralysis of learning activities after lecturers downed their tools two days ago. Egerton University and the Masinde Muliro University of Science and Technology sent their students packing until issues surrounding the strike are resolved. In the meantime, the government is calling for dialogue with the striking unions. Higher Education Minister, Margaret Kamar has admitted that the government does not have the capacity to address the lecturers' demands at the moment, given the prevailing security and economic situations in the country. Sheila Sendeyo has the latest from day 3 of the university lecturers' strike.
